The following Adjunct Faculty is needed for the Spring 2025 term:
- Microcomputer Applications ( M/W 9:30-10:45AM) Bellefonte location - This hands-on course introduces the student to the more popular microcomputer software packages available including Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations. This course provides students with a working knowledge of these software packages to accomplish the more common tasks. The Microsoft Office suite, including MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, is used. Requirements: Bachelors or Associates with Experience in Computer Technology, Information Systems, or Computer Science or a degree with credits in those related areas.
- TCP/IP Connectivity and Troubleshooting ( Mon/Wed 9:30-10:45Virtual/ZOOM) - This course is designed to provide the student with a working knowledge of TCP/IP for purposes of internetworking. In this course the student will explore the functionality of the TCP/IP protocol suite, TCP/IP internetworking, and managing TCP/IP. Students will learn IPv4 addressing and subnetting, as well as the new IPv6 addressing and configuration. Troubleshooting techniques appropriate to the server, node and network environment as well as learning how to systematically locate the problem and how to correct it will also be explored. Requirements: Master's Degree in Computer Information Technology, Information Systems, or Computer Science
- Western Civilizations II: Renaissance to the Present (Mon/Wed 12:30-1:45pm) Bellefonte location - This course examines the history and experiences of cultures from the Renaissance to the present. Major political, social, economic, cultural and religious trends and influences are examined, discussed and interpreted. Topic discussions include perspectives on the rise of European power, revolutions (political, social, scientific and economic), the arts, literature, philosophy, nationalism and global interdependence among nations. Requirements: Master's Degree in History or Social Studies Education
- Public Speaking - 2 openings :
- M/W 9:30 - 10:45am Ebensburg Location
- M/W 2:00 - 3:15pm Bellefonte Location
- This course is designed to help the student build confidence in the theory and practice of public speaking, with the emphasis on the speaker-audience relationship. Skills include analyzing the speaking situation, choosing appropriate topics, conducting research, organizing ideas, utilizing evidence, using voice and body to deliver public speeches effectively to a live audience, and developing the ability to listen actively and critically. Requirements: Degree in Communications, Public Relations, or English with credits in Communications
- Intro to American Cinema ( Mon/Wed 2:00-3:15pm) Blair location - This course is a thematic and historical study of American cinema. It introduces the history, technology, vocabulary, fundamentals, symbolism and realism of American filmmaking. In addition, specific genres of American films will be viewed and discussed. Requirements: Masters Degree in Film Studies or Humanities degree with credits in film studies or cultural history
- Health and Wellness ( Mon/Wed 9:30-10:45am) Blair location - This is a health science course that explores variables related to achieving a healthier life in an attempt to obtain and maintain vitality. This course is designed to introduce students to the foundations of healthy lifestyles, wellness promotion activities, and associated behaviors. Health is more than weight and lifestyle behaviors contribute to wellness in all dimensions of health throughout the life cycle. The goal is for students to use this knowledge to inspect current personal behaviors and to learn to learn to implement practical changes in order to make informed, sovereign, and self-empowering health choices that will be an investment into their own well-being. Requirements: Bachelor's or associate Degree with Experience in nursing, health-related professions, public health or chiropractic
- Introduction to Music ( Mon/Wed 9:30-10:45am) Richland location - This course is an introduction to music that studies the elements of music (notation, scales, meter, rhythm, intervals) instruments of the orchestra, vocalization, and the lives and works of composers from the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary eras. Use is made of recordings, concerts, and other media. Requirements: Master's Degree in Music Education, Humanities degree with credits in Music
- Intro to Philosophy ( Tues/Thur 2:00-3:15pm) Somerset location - This course introduces students to traditional philosophical problems. The course will survey basic topics in philosophy and the great ideas that changed history. Students will examine classical and contemporary texts on the nature of reality, truth, morality, goodness, justice, the possibility of knowledge, faith, reason, and the existence of God. Requirements: Master's Degree in Philosophy or Humanities degree with credits in Philosophy
Location: Courses are offered at our locations in Richland, Ebensburg, Blair, and Somerset, along with offering a variety of online and virtual classes.
Start Date: Start date will be the first day of teaching for the term/semester.
- The Spring 2025 semester begins on January 21, 2025.

Wage/Credit Hour Equivalent: $780(up to 8 credit hours for the first semester)

An adjunct faculty member is responsible for providing the highest quality of instruction within the Colleges various programs. An adjunct faculty member must effectively plan and prepare course content to optimize student learning, participate in the assessment of student learning, communicate openly with lead faculty and students, attend classes with regularity and punctuality, maintain currency within an assigned discipline, and project a professional demeanor.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and implement rigorous course materials to include engaging lectures, relevant activities, meaningful discussions, appropriate assessments, and generally responsive instructional strategies that meet the requirements of the course and individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Adhere to the course syllabus and ensure that all outlined learning outcomes, assessments, and regulating standards are met to their fullest capacities. Develop and supply a syllabi addendum inclusive of the following information: instructor contact information, course specific policies and procedures, updated submission dates, etc. The syllabi addendum must be posted in the learning management system.
- Ensure that all classes and assignments are respectful of Federal and State regulations and contractual obligations; that is, individual classes and course semesters should be taught in their entirety. Time spent in classes, including outside assignments, should be designed to maximize student learning and consistent with accreditation requirements.
- Administer, score, and report on course-specific common assessments as per department guidelines and due dates.
- Submit mid-term and final grades via learning management system and/or myPEAK by the deadlines established by Administration.
- Establish and manage classroom policies that are consistent with the colleges policies and procedures. Clearly state them in the syllabi addendum.
- Participate in ensuring that the classroom or instructional environment is healthful and safe and generally conducive to learning.
- Record attendance via learning management system according to college policy. Adjunct faculty must follow any student attendance policies specifically outlined in course syllabi.
- Communicate openly with the administration and lead faculty concerning the course, curricula, teaching practices, and student issues.
- Provide students with access to syllabi, addendums, policies, and instructor information via learning management system.
- Communicate openly with students concerning instructional expectations, student progress or lack of progress, changes to the course, etc.
- Provide academic support to students on an as needed basis.
- Participate in and attend all professional growth activities and maintain awareness of new trends and developments within areas of instructional responsibility. Adjunct faculty will be required to 2 attend all mandatory trainings/meetings pertaining to their course(s). These trainings/meetings will occur prior to and throughout a given semester.
- Follow and adhere to all College policies and procedures.
- Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Employment is contingent upon submission and satisfactory review of any background check clearances as may be required by Pennsylvania Act 153.
