Anderson Development Company is seeking an Analytical Chemist based out of our Adrian, Michigan facility.


Anderson Development Company, a Specialty Chemical Manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist within our quality control department. This role will be responsible for testing of raw materials, in-process materials and finished products to support manufacturing. Additional requirements may include analytical method development, method verification/ validation activities and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Job Responsibilities
• Perform a wide variety of analytical experiments to test the integrity and identity of raw materials, intermediates and finished products.
• Installing, qualifying, calibrating and maintaining instruments and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and solve equipment and method related issues.
• Assist with maintaining the laboratory consumables inventory and laboratory housekeeping.
• LIMS data entry, updates, programming and report generation.
• Analytical method development to support existing and new business.
• Utilize tools such as equipment/method validations and Gage R&Rs to evaluate analytical performance.
• Perform and document laboratory investigations.
• Assist in training others in laboratory procedures.
• Ensure use of appropriate safety measures, including personal protective equipment.
• Interact with internal groups, customers, suppliers and vendors as needed.


Required Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry (this includes related areas such as Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic/ Polymer Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry).
• Minimum 2 years of work experience with analytical techniques such as chromatography (HPLC, GC, GPC), spectroscopy (FT-IR, UV-VIS), viscosity, manual and Karl Fischer titrations, pH determinations, melt index and melt viscosity testing.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop, troubleshoot and validate analytical methods.
• Ability to maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
• Experience in statistical analysis (SQC, SPC, Gage R&R, etc.) of analytical data.
• Experience in developing and authoring procedures and reports for laboratory investigations.
• Working knowledge of standard software applications such as Chromatography Data Systems (Agilent OpenLab preferred), Microsoft Office, etc.
• Travel may be required on an infrequent basis.
