Chief Executive Officer

Job Summary: The CEO is responsible for the leadership, executive management, public relations, and oversight of all activities of GWIT, in accordance with all governing documents. The CEO is accountable to the Board of Directors for the ethical, prudent, transparent leadership of GWIT and for professional representation and advocacy of the mission in all capacities.
Essential Job Functions: Oversees the establishment and communication of the Mission, Vision and Values of the organization as approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Accountable for achieving the goals of the Organization as contained in the Strategic Plan, Annual Plans, KPI’s and other directives from the Board of Directors.
  • Develops and maintains an internal employee-first culture that promotes the best interests of GWIT employees. Serves as a role model promoting a passion for the Goodwill mission.
  • Provides inspirational leadership to a diverse group of team members by emulating a shared vision, making sure it is clearly communicated, and holding leaders accountable for successful execution.
  • Takes responsibility for ongoing assessment and making changes when and where necessary to ensure Goodwill's operations, programs, people, and brand are poised for continued long term growth and success.
  • Attracts, develops, and retains a high performing team of engaged employees.
  • Responsible to the Board of Directors for the translation of long-term plans, directions and governance policies into actionable operations and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains acceptable, effective reporting tools and communication methods such that the translation of direction into specific results can be easily understood and reviewed by the Board.
  • Supports the Board and its committees through assistance with agenda development, guidance, and reporting.
  • Supports the Board in its recruitment, development, advocacy, community connection and self-evaluation activities.
  • Develops and maintains a robust communications plan (internal and external) aimed at:
    • Improving awareness of GWIT and its mission.
    • Improving relationships internally with staff and externally with all shareholders, specifically potential donors, funders, other non-profits and governmental agencies.
  • Place high emphasis on realizing the highest net returns from operations to the organization for furtherance of the mission.
  • Ensures that all operations of GWIT advance the mission. Ensures all applicable, required accreditation and annual audit standards are maintained or surpassed.
  • Works with the Leadership Team (Chiefs & Vice Presidents) to prepare and present an annual budget and Annual Plans to the Board of Directors and uses the approved budget and plans to oversee operations and programs.
  • Responsible for accurate, timely reports about and oversight of all financial affairs of GWIT and for ongoing assessment of financial sustainability through regular risk analysis.
  • Evaluates existing programs to ensure relevancy, effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Promotes active, effective safety programs across GWIT.
  • Supports success of the Leadership Team through clear communication of job expectations and delivery of regular, proactive feedback; provides opportunities for professional growth and development.
Qualifications:
Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in related subject matter. Prefer master’s degree or other related post-secondary education. Minimum of five years’ experience in progressive various management/leadership roles in a variety of businesses or non-profit industry.

Supervisory Responsibility: Direct reports are Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Information Officer, Chief Marketing & Development Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, and Executive Coordinator.
