JOB SUMMARY:
The Claims Adjuster - Intermediate is responsible for the investigation, evaluation, negotiation and settlement of personal and commercial claims of moderate complexity, including dispute resolution and/or recovery.
The selected candidate must live within a commutable distance (approximately 50 miles) to Citizens Jacksonville, FL office. This is a full-time, onsite position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Models ethical behavior and executes job responsibilities in accordance with Citizens core values, ethics, and information protection policies.
Negotiates and settles claims in accordance with Citizens Best Claims Practices and Estimating Guidelines and industry standards.
Demonstrates proficiency in conducting investigations, damage assessments and utilizing estimating software.
Researches, analyzes and interprets policy contracts and state statutes as it applies to submitted claims.
Documents all relevant information in the electronic claims management.
Contributes to the business production goals and objectives.
Trains, mentors and guide less experienced staff as needed.
Participates in workload surges and/or catastrophe response as needed, to include mandated overtime during specified catastrophic events. May assist other Business Units as needed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Demonstrates working knowledge to interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and department operational guidelines in daily functions.
Computer literacy in a Microsoft Windows® environment.
Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to recognize problematic situations and put into effect creative solutions.
Ability to work independently, multi-task and adapt to frequent priority changes.
Possesses strong customer service skills.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma | GED
Associate/Technical Degree OR 2 years relevant experience, OR a combination of both college and experience equivalent to 2 years
Additional education may count towards work experience
AND 2 or more years of experience handling claims.
Must possess a valid, active and appropriate Florida adjuster license within 90 days of employment and maintain it as a condition of continued employment. Appointment required.
Within 90 days of employment, must successfully complete all requirements of Citizens Fundamental Claims School which includes obtaining an overall passing score.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in business administration or field with skills transferable to insurance.
Four (4) or more years of experience handling claims.
Active Florida Adjuster license (620 or 644).
Xactimate® proficiency.
Percentage of time is accountable for transactional, day to day operational support: 80%
Percentage of time is accountable for short term operational goals: 20%
