As a **Culinary and Kitchen Operations Intern**, you will participate in everything from hands-on experience in the operations of planning, prepping, and executing recipes, to learning the responsibilities and duties of kitchen/restaurant management.

Working in conjunction with the kitchen staff, service staff, and management, **Culinary and Kitchen Operations Interns** responsibilities will include:

* Learning proper food handling procedures, a variety of cooking techniques and kitchen skills, and how to prep and execute recipes correctly while observing food safety and sanitation practices to deliver visually appealing and delicious, country cuisine.

* Working across multiple kitchen duties, including grill, prep, and backup cook positions, to learn and practice specific cooking methods and techniques.

* Providing aid to server assistants and Retail and Restaurant Operations Interns to expedite service of dining room and to-go orders.

* Learning essential management functions associated with kitchen management and administration including customer service, human resources, vendor relations; supply chain, procurement, and inventory of kitchen supplies and food; and compliance with health and safety regulations by shadowing and assisting the assistant, general, and kitchen managers.

**Educational/Experience/Skill Requirements**

* Must be enrolled in a continuing education/college program in a related field

* Must have proper identification to verify employment authorization

* Basic understanding of cooking and knife handling skills

* Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and restaurant employees

* Must be able to understand and read basic cooking instructions

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an intern encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the intern primarily operates in a restaurant environment. This role routinely uses sinks and kitchen appliances. Interns in this role are frequently exposed to hot water, potentially slippery floors, and cleaning chemicals.
