Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Data Analyst to join our team as we implement a new Data Catalog system. This project is a part of our Enterprise Data Fabric initiative, which aims to revolutionize our approach to data through a comprehensive modernization effort. In this role, you will play a key part in improving data discoverability and usability for our organization by moving all of our data into the cloud. You will work closely with stakeholders across various departments to understand their data needs and ensure the Data Catalog effectively meets them.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with data users, business analysts, and IT teams to identify relevant data assets for inclusion in the Data Catalog.
Analyze data lineage, definitions, and business rules to document them within the Data Catalog.
Develop and implement data quality checks and standards for the Data Catalog.
Design and build workflows for data cataloging and metadata population.
Create user guides and training materials to promote user adoption of the Data Catalog.
Monitor and analyze Data Catalog usage metrics to identify areas for improvement.
Participate in ongoing data governance initiatives to ensure alignment with the Data Catalog.
Catalog operational data across the enterprise from various source systems.
Accelerate the creation of an enterprise data catalog to be leveraged within the data fabric that includes all pertinent metadata for operational data.
Required Skills:
Proven experience in standing up, implementing, and managing Data Catalogs such as Alation, Callibra, Informatica, Alteryx, Connect, or Secoda.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Experience with data lineage analysis, data definitions, and documenting business rules.
Ability to develop and implement data quality checks and standards.
Proficiency in designing and building workflows for data cataloging and metadata population.
Experience in creating user guides and training materials.
Ability to monitor and analyze usage metrics for continuous improvement.
Participation in data governance initiatives.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across various departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with cloud data migration and cloud-based data management systems.
Knowledge of data governance best practices and frameworks.
Familiarity with data integration tools and methodologies.
