Ashley Furniture HomeStore, the #1 Mattress and Furniture retailer in North America, has an immediate opening for a Distribution Center Supervisor. The ideal candidate is responsible for all functions of the warehouse.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Work with drivers to ensure correctness and quality of product going to the guest.
  • Ensure the product is pulled into the proper lane and that it is done in a timely manner.
  • Work with company transfer driver to make sure the product taken to the stores is correct and good for the floor.
  • Resolve delivery issues as they are reported, such as researching the cause of the issue, the recovery of the issue, and resolving the issue , in an acceptable amount of time.
  • Ensure delivery trucks are loaded and off the dock at an acceptable time to ensure delivery time windows are met.
  • Ensure accuracy in delivery teams paperwork as based on the product in-stock and that it matches the routing program (Dispatch Track)
  • Instruct team members on correct processes/procedures and coach as necessary.
  • Work with 3rd party delivery manager to ensure routing of scheduled deliveries is completed.
  • Supervise the work of others, including planning, assigning and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards, training staff and overseeing their productivity. May offer recommendations for hiring, termination and pay adjustments, but does not have responsibility for making these decisions.
  • Small Department; primarily functions as a working supervisor

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES :

  • Required High School Diploma.
  • At least 1 year experience as a supervisor is preferred.
  • Significant responsibility for decisions and final results, typically affecting the entire department, program, or research funding. Available guides or options are limited. Problems are varied, requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation. Problems are solved using knowledge and skills, and general precedents and practices.
  • Performs duties within scope of general policies, procedures and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures and practices. Refers exceptions to policy and procedures to the supervisor.
  • If a product is damaged, and the only stock on-hand is reserved to a different order, looking into existing purchase orders to verify replacement product will be on-hand for the order in time so that the on-hand product can be re-assigned. Ability to assess each situation, research possible solution and resolve in an appropriate amount of time.
  • Must be able to manage multiple aspects of the delivery process, as well as complete additional duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Must be knowledgeable in operating system (Storis), Microsoft Outlook, and Micosoft Office. Must be able to learn and work the routing program (Dispatch Track)
  • Must be able to manage office staff, provide feedback, as well as fill in as needed.
  • Must be able to use computers.
  • Qualification on order-pickers can be done upon hire, and is preferred (fear of heights is discouraged for this position)
  • Must be able to communicate with staff as well as issues cause and resolution to supervisor.
