Job Description
An internship with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is a form of experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting.
The Donor Experience Intern will work as part of the Donor Experience team to support ongoing prospect research and data management. This position focuses on discovering prospect information, preparing research case requests, and assisting with data management and upkeep. This remote paid internship will run from Spring through Summer 2025 (February-August)
This 20-week internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience while balancing academic commitments. The Intern will work 10 hours per week, allowing for a flexible schedule that can accommodate breaks during exam periods and vacations.
Key Responsibilities: - Prospect Research (50%)
- Discover prospect contact information, employment details, and philanthropic/wealth indicators for 10-20 requests per week.
- Prepare 5-10 prospect research case requests per week, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.
- Utilize various tools and databases to gather and verify prospect information.
- Data Management and Upkeep (30%)
- Assist in the management and upkeep of prospect research data.
- Ensure all data is accurately entered and maintained in the organization's database.
- Support the development and implementation of data management best practices.
- Administrative Support (20%)
- Assist with data entry, document management, and other administrative tasks related to donor experience.
- Support the preparation of reports and presentations for the Donor Experience team.
- Help organize and maintain digital and physical files and records.
Learning Objectives: - Develop skills in prospect research and data management.

- Improve communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
Qualifications: - Currently pursuing a degree as a Junior or Senior in college or any year in graduate school.
- Open to all majors, with a preference for Business Administration, Marketing, Non-Profit Management, Public Relations, or related fields.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work 20 weeks, 10 hours per week.
- Access to reliable internet (required for remote or hybrid positions).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software for e-mail, document, and spreadsheet creation/management.
- Detail-oriented and able to handle confidential information with discretion.

The hourly rate for internships is $15, except when noted differently above OR where local minimum wage exceeds that figure, in which case the hourly rate will be the higher of the two.
