Job Description
EHS Programs & Management System Responsibilities:
- Develop and utilize EHS programs and facility specific procedures that ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Engage the site team in the development of EHS program components: operational procedures work instructions training material standards etc.
- EHS programs projects tasks or activities from inception to completion.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Requirements include integration of environmental health and safety management systems with engineering and program documentation and schedules to maintain regulatory compliance and safe operating conditions.
- Ensure all safety and environmental recommendations are completed and documented.
- Use a structured processes scorecard to measure and communicate Safety/Environmental performance with both leading results and indicators.
- Track and regularly report the status of regulatory compliance and improvement initiatives.
- Participate in and/or lead EHS Incident Investigations.
- Maintain OSHA 300 log and all other governmental and corporate database records.
- Sustasnability and environmental metric monitoring and recordkeeping
- Gather data and information for monthly environmental reporting
- Weekly/monthly environmental inspections
Training Resource & Counsel:
- Employee EHS Training
- Conduct new employee orientation training; participate in developing and conducting monthly site safety meetings; Powered Industrial Truck (forklift and yard truck) training; and other EHS training as needed.
- Assists Leadership Teams in understanding OSHA/EPA regulations and standards.
- Provides advice and counsel to product and process engineers and leads to incorporate environmental health and safety principles and concepts to prevent workplace operational hazards and environmental impacts.
- Implements environmental health and safety education and training to support regulatory and business requirements.
- Function as the contractorplant representative to assure compliance of all Process Safety Management related requirements from contractors.
- Conduct or Coordinate Safety Equipment and Fire Suppression System Inspections: Perform routine inspections on fire suppression equipment such as fire extinguishers fire pumps etc.
- Coordinate vendors for fire suppression equipment preventative maintenance procedures.
- Be a resource and mentor to the site Safety Committee and other employee teams.
- Evaluate and respond to all emergency situations. Investigate all releases injuries and nearmisses. Enter into systems.
- Participate in the Daily MDI Tier I meetings by: contributing risk triggers and taking action items as appropriate.
- Correct unsafe behaviors through coaching. Actively engage employees on the importance/benefits of working carefully.
Compliance & EHS Programs:
- Maintain PPE Hazard Assessments
- Identifies and evaluates hazardous conditions and practices and develops hazard control practices and programs.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheet systems.
- Maintain and calibrate portable atmospheric testing equipment.
- Coordinate and conduct periodic industrial hygiene monitoring of noise air quality and other IH levels.
- Reviews plant incident statistics and makes recommendations for correction of problem areas.
- Conducts periodic inspections of plant machinery equipment and working conditions to ensure conformance to appropriate safety standards and regulations through GEMBA walks and other activities.
- Oversee the site PPE Vendors (Safety toe shoes; safety glasses etc.)
- Environmental Sampling interpreting results
- Hazardous waste labeling identification and inspections
- Waste Disposal identification and minimization
Emergency Response
- Be an active participant on the site First Aid (AHA Certification) and Haz Mat Teams (40hour Haz Mat Technician).)
- Be a resource for injured employees to initiate proper medical care and case management.
- Process Safety Management Processes:
- Ownership of the Hot Work; Confined Space; Lock Out Tag Out; Contractor Safety Programs and all associated activities.
- Conduct Ergonomic Evaluations. Provide recommendations generated with team engagement.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors Degree in Occupational Health and Safety Chemical Environmental Engineering / Science or related field preferred.
- Up to 3 years of EHS experience with progressive work assignments. Minimum experience of least one EHS related internship/coop.
- Advanced professional EHS certification (OHST ASP CSP) desired or a commitment to pursue certification.
- Capable of being an active member of Site HazMat and First Aid Team.
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and EHS policies procedures and programs.
- Experience in life safety codes EHS rules HAZOP training principles of occupational safety and health and Industrial hygiene.
- Strong Project/Problem Resolution skills.
- Mastery of applicable computer systems such as Google and function specific software.
- Strategic thinking with strong leadership skills and good interpersonal communications.
- McKinney coaching facilitating and training skills.
- Construction safety experience preferred.
- Knowledge of flammable liquid standards; hazards; and controls preferred.
