Your Job Georgia-Pacific has an immediate opening for an Environmental Manager at our Tacoma, Washington Gypsum facility. The Facility Environmental Manager creates long term value by ensuring risks are identified and mitigated while sustaining performance improvement and striving for environmental excellence. This is accomplished by providing environmental leadership and strategic direction to the facility leadership and team through the application of the Principle Based Management® (PBM®) and adherence to our Guiding Principles. The Environmental Manager will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the facility's environmental compliance programs and systems. This position will lead the facility's environmental program and assist in ensuring facility compliance with pertinent governmental regulations, including state and federal air regulations for air emissions, storm water, wastewater, and hazardous waste. The role will also help ensure that the site conforms to relative company policies and procedures, such as Georgia Pacific's Environmental Performance Standards. The Environmental Manager must be able to embrace and lead change, possess strong interpersonal skills and efficiently balance multiple priorities. The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of audiences. The successful candidate must also lead by example, be self-motivated, possess strong analytical skills, exhibit sound decision-making, and have proficient organizational skills. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager of the Tacoma Gypsum facility. Our Team Our Tacoma facility has a rich history producing gypsum wallboard for a wide variety of customers. And, to learn more about our gypsum products, visit What You Will Do Environmental Technical Expert and GP Environmental Performance Standard Owner. Manage compliance of federal (EPA), state (Washington Department of Ecology), and local (Puget Sound Clean Air Agency, PSCAA) environmental program requirements, including but not limited to air, wastewater, storm water, solid and hazardous waste, SPCC, CERCLA/EPCRA, TSCA, CITSS and FCC. Lead in development and implementation of the Corporate Environmental Management System (Critical Risk Management System), as well as integration of the environmental system into the plant's overall Operational Excellence (OpEx) Plan. Be knowledgeable in environmental regulations (federal, state and local) applicable to the facility and assess compliance, procedural and financial impacts to the facility. Analyze incident and compliance trend data and work with operating departments to reduce risk. Lead environmental incident investigations, mitigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. Manage compliance calendar, coordinate activities and prepare/submit reports to outside agencies on schedule. Manage hazardous materials program and mitigate exposure to safety and environmental hazards and risks in the workplace. Identify cost effective solutions for technical and regulatory environmental issues. Train facility personnel with respect to environmental regulations. Facilitate and represent the facility during agency inspections. Effectively interact with internal/external environmental technical resources and Georgia-Pacific legal resources to seek the best knowledge. Effectively collaborate with local and divisional management, public relations, technical subject matter experts and other capabilities on issues that affect the local community and external stakeholders. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) At least two years of environmental compliance experience. Able to work safely and promote and enforce safe work practices. What Will Put You Ahead Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Environmental Management, Environmental Science. Environmental experience in an industrial/manufacturing facility. Experience managing and implementing air permits. Experience with stormwater treatment and related regulations. Experience in understanding emissions calculations. Experience conducting facility audits or inspections to identify improvement areas. Experience implementing key management systems/controls such as Permits, Plans, Licenses & Registrations, and Compliance Calendars. Experience in environmental permitting activities. For this role, we anticipate paying $95,000- $120,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form. At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
