Job Description
The ideal candidate will have specialized expertise in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical data center equipment and systems. This includes advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls, plumbing, and process systems, ensuring that all systems function seamlessly to support the facility's high uptime standards.
Responsibilities - Maintain, operate, diagnose, and repair essential industrial systems, including boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, dehumidifiers, and associated environmental control systems crucial for data center operations
- Oversee the maintenance and management of hydronic systems, air compressors, dust collectors, and chemical delivery/storage systems
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on complex systems, including detailed calibration of instruments and controllers to optimize equipment performance
- Install, maintain, and repair critical infrastructure components such as ductwork, piping, wiring, and other system components to ensure the reliability of all equipment in the data center
- Conduct routine inspections and provide advanced mechanical, electrical, and controls services, identifying potential issues before they impact operations
- Ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of all system processes through the calibration, repair, and adjustment of control systems, electrical panels, and HVAC systems
- Document all maintenance activities, troubleshooting processes, and corrective actions performed, maintaining a high standard of operational recordkeeping
Requirements - Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial/commercial facilities maintenance, with a strong preference for those who have worked in data center or mission-critical environments. Supervisory experience is highly preferred
- Proficiency in the maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, controls, and plumbing systems, with a solid understanding of HVAC and electrical distribution systems specific to high-demand data centers
- In-depth knowledge of control systems, HVAC systems, and electrical codes, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex systems under pressure
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, circuit diagrams, P&IDs, and control system schematics to ensure accurate system performance
- Extensive safety training with a proven ability to develop and communicate clear, effective safety procedures and protocols across teams
- Demonstrated technical expertise in industrial HVAC, plumbing systems, and critical data center equipment such as precision cooling, backup power systems, and fire suppression systems
Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
- Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a day
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, reflective vest, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
