Job Details:

The Department of Pathology and Clinical Sciences Education at Mercer University School of Medicine, Columbus Campus seeks a faculty member.

Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will support department initiatives, advise on technical elements of ongoing projects, develop novel approaches and initiatives to better healthcare, and contribute to the management of a comprehensive data platform. This position may also teach in the School of Medicine's Population Health MD curriculum and/or Ph.D. programs. Additional responsibilities of the position include:

* Participating in the design a comprehensive rural data platform.

* Analysis and interpretation of results from health-related datasets and projects

* Teaching and mentoring graduate students.

* Supervising students on research projects and preceptor visits.

* Preparing statistical information

* Presenting research findings to internal and external stakeholders.

* Contributing to the development of research ideas and project proposals.

* Collaborating with investigators on the need for additional analyses and/or special methodologic needs.

* Publishing scholarly or informational works.

* Collaborating and working to strengthen relationships with researchers across the state.

* Participating with faculty investigators on committees to review concepts, proposals, and to continually improve research implementation and outcomes.

* Engaging in efforts to acquire extramural funding and support.

* Engaging with community organizations and agencies regarding service opportunities and research.

Qualifications:

Candidates must:

* Hold a Ph.D. in Epidemiology or a related quantitative field.

* Have experience with extramural grant support, statistical design, and analysis.

The ideal candidate will have:

* Experience using qualitative and quantitative methods and with linking and working with large datasets.

* Proficiency in the use of statistical and programming packages, e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, STATA, Python, Tableau, Access, GIS, or related programs.

* Familiarity with longitudinal data analysis.

* Experience working as part of a team.

* Ability to work well with others and design and supervise research projects, publish, and contribute to efforts to obtain extramural funding.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Experience presenting and communicating technical and statistical concepts to clinicians, policy makers, and lay audiences.

* Familiarity and/or experience with rural health.

* Familiarity and/or experience with spatial epidemiology
