Position Title: HEAVY DUTY MECHANIC
Location: Travel Rotational role 14 days on, 7 days off or local Monday - Friday
FLSA Class: NON-EXEMPT
Responsible to: DEPOT MANAGER
Position Summary: Provides onsite maintenance, repair, and servicing of large machinery and equipment for power generation. The primary role is to ensure that heavy-duty equipment is in optimal working condition to maximize efficiency and safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Equipment Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of heavy machinery and vehicles to identify mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues.
- Diagnosing Problems: Identifying and diagnosing mechanical and technical problems in heavy equipment through various diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Repair and Maintenance: Performing maintenance tasks, scheduled servicing, and repairs to address mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. This may involve engine overhauls, brake replacements, transmission repairs, and other critical repairs.
- Troubleshooting: Analyzing complex issues, investigating potential causes, and applying problem-solving skills to address equipment malfunctions.
- Parts Replacement: Identifying faulty or worn-out parts and components and replacing them with new or reconditioned parts as necessary.
- Welding and Fabrication: Conducting welding and fabrication work to repair or modify equipment components.
- Preventive Maintenance: Executing preventive maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and ensure the longevity of the machinery.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used, time spent, and any additional notes.
- Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety protocols and guidelines while working on heavy equipment to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborating with other mechanics, technicians, and supervisors to ensure the smooth operation of the maintenance department.
- Equipment Testing: Conducting performance tests after repairs or maintenance to verify proper functioning and identify any additional issues.
- Training and Mentoring: Assisting in training and mentoring junior mechanics or apprentices to develop their skills and knowledge.
- Environmental Compliance: Ensuring proper disposal of waste materials, such as oil and fluids, in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Updating Technical Knowledge: Keeping up-to-date with advancements in heavy equipment technology, tools, and techniques to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Manager.
Other Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3-5+ years of related experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry, service rental.Electrically or mechanically focused.
- Completion of a formal Heavy Duty Mechanic apprenticeship program or relevant technical training.
- A valid driver's license.
- Strong mechanical and technical skills, with knowledge of engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and other heavy equipment components.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and tools.
- Physical strength and dexterity to handle heavy equipment and perform manual tasks.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
