Description The Delaware Public Health District seeks a full-time
Health Communications Specialist to create communications to educate the public, assist in media and public relations, marketing, multimedia and maintaining agency website.
Examples Of Duties - Assists in communication between health department, community and media.
- Acts as backup Public Information Officer
- Assists in handling inquiries from officials and the general public and promotes and advocates for the mission and programs of the health department.
- Assists in the creation and implementation of ongoing public relations and marketing campaign, helps Public Information Officer to develop a plan for branding all public information materials.
- Assists in agency participation at local events and helps coordinate agency staffing of booth or exhibit. Assists other programs in developing program and audience specific newsletters and news releases.
- Assists in the management of agency website, researches trends and changes to ensure presence is current to residents.
- Assists in maintaining current social media communities, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. Researches social media trends to ensure presence is meaningful and effective.
- Assists in taking quality photographs and video as needed and edits into appropriate materials. May contribute to the development and recommendation of policies and procedures to media relations and communications.
Typical Qualifications Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Journalism or related field.
- One to three years' experience required.
- Driver's license and auto liability insurance required.
Key Skills: - Strong Communication Skills, both written and oral
- Multimedia background with writing, video, and web / design / maintenance skills.
- Strong writing skills with a demonstrated command of grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.
- Video storytelling and editing skills.
- Excellent proofreading skills; detail oriented.
Supplemental Information Pay and Benefits: - Starting pay is $25.55/hr. Starting pay may be adjusted commensurate with experience.
