Job Title: Health Communications Specialist
Department: Community Health Action Department
Supervisor: Director of Community Health Action
Location: This position will be primarily located in DC but will need to be able to move between locations, as needed. It will work remotely and on-site, as appropriate.
Classification: This is a non-exempt/Hourly position
Synopsis: This position will work within the Community Health Action Department to provide technical support for the development of health communications strategies for programs’ educational and promotional efforts, including, but not limited to, public health campaigns to promote awareness about health promotion and prevention-related topics within the Latinx communities.
As appropriate, this position will also support the Department Director in developing health literacy strategies and health communications initiatives for the department and the organization at large, according to internal guidance and plans.

Duties and Responsibilities :
• Supports the Department Director in the development and implementation of health literacy strategies impacting the organization and the community at large through the implementation of health literacy needs assessments.
- Design of health literacy tools.
- Implementation of health literacy initiatives impacting LCDP staff and community stakeholders.
• Supports the Department Director in the design of health communication materials by Assessing programmatic communication tools, educational materials, and training needs and ensuring the relevance, consistency, and relevance of messaging according to programmatic standards.
- Collaborate with program managers and outside contractors when needed in the preparation, content development, and design of health communication campaigns, educational materials, social media and technology platform content, and other program-related products.
- Organizing and maintaining the Health Communications Library with materials produced.
• Coordinates with the Department Director in maximizing the use of communication channels for health communication initiatives by Exploring new technologies and platforms and assessing community needs.
- Support program staff on using social media platforms and tools.
• Supports the Department Director and program managers in cross-program collaboration initiatives through:
-Supporting and attending the Health Communication Committee meetings and other group collaboration efforts, as appropriate.
-Supporting in coordinating health communication materials requests targeting clients and community members.
•Supports the Department Director in community collaboration efforts by coordinating participation in local and national public health campaigns, as appropriate.
-Support the program manager and/or department director in implementing client involvement activities for communication materials development, including the program’s consumer advisory boards or similar groups.
-Support general communication efforts, including traditional media, as appropriate.
•Supports the Department Director in other general duties, such as coordinating the execution of the assigned program’s budget, including expenditures reporting, ensuring spending according to the approved budget, and meeting Finance and Grant requirements.
-Supporting the educational materials design for training, as needed.
-Facilitating staff training on health communication topics, as needed.
•Represents La Clinica by attending conferences, meetings, coalitions, and other community group meetings, as required.
•Attends required training to increase/maintain skills.
•Meets regularly with a supervisor as required to coordinate the implementation of programs and services.
•Attends program, department, and all staff meetings, including all mandatory La Clinica activities.
•Follows La Clinica’s Code of Conduct and all other personnel Policies and Procedures.
•Performs other related duties as assigned.

•None.
Physical Requirements :
•Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
•Ability to work weekends and evenings, as needed.
•Able to perform duties in different La Clinica’s locations, as required.
•Able to perform duties and responsibilities remotely when needed.
•Minimum physical effort needed, particularly when attending events.
