General Description
The Job Corps High School Diploma Instructor will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective educational instruction to help our participants earn their high school diplomas, preparing them for future educational pursuits and professional success.

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development: Develops and continuously refines curriculum materials, lesson plans, and learning activities aligned with state educational standards to effectively teach high school-level subjects, including math, English, science, and social studies. Contextualizes content with workplace artifacts and business examples gleaned from industry partners.
  • Instructional Delivery: Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that cater to various learning styles and abilities, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for all participants.
  • Assessment and Progress Tracking: Create and administer assessments to evaluate participants' understanding of the material, track their progress, and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Individualized Support: Identify participants' strengths, weaknesses, and learning needs, offering individualized instruction and support to help them succeed academically.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a structured and respectful classroom environment, ensuring participant safety, discipline, and adherence to program policies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other instructors, program staff, and support services to address participants' academic and personal needs holistically.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and participant performance, and provide regular updates to program leadership and support services.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with educational best practices, curriculum trends, and teaching methodologies to continuously enhance instructional effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Teaching, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • New York State 7-12 Teaching Certification in the appropriate subject area(s) for high school-level instruction required.
  • Proven experience in teaching high school-level subjects, preferably in alternative education settings, adult education, or similar programs.
  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to engage and motivate diverse groups of participants.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Empathy and understanding of the unique challenges faced by young adults seeking to earn their high school diplomas.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and learning management systems.

Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 Annually
