PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under supervision, responsibilities will include but not limited to the following essential functions:
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Laredo Petroleum automation equipment.
- Communicate with all branches of operations regarding automation equipment and status.
- Work with SCADA system to identify and correct failed equipment and sensors.
- Work with automation contractors to ensure adequate installation and costs.
- Identify and recommend improvements to existing automation equipment.
- Troubleshoot, program, and repair field PLCs, displays, and RTUs.
- Answer service-related calls to repair or reset down communications/telemetry equipment.
- Train pumpers and technicians on proper use of field automation equipment.
- Perform other duties as required by the Automation Foreman.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: - Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years oilfield experience with 3 years automation and electrical experience.
- Thorough knowledge of oilfield automation and communications equipment.
- Computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all level of employees in the organization.
- Must be self-motivated, demonstrate strong ethics and character, be able to work with minimal supervision, and be flexible and cooperative with co-workers.
- Must possess a desire to automate repetitive tasks and utilize data from multiple sources to achieve differential results

COMPENSATION: Salary is commensurate with experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is normally performed outdoors where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes and gases is common. Noise level is moderate to loud and includes sounds of construction, equipment operations, trucks and like equipment. Job hazards include working in normal light and heavy construction activities and working around pressured propane, water, electricity, and waste lines under all weather conditions. May work in areas where H2S is present. Must be available to be On-Call.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at moderate skill level. Work may require frequent pushing, pulling, or carrying 50-to-75-pound objects such as tools, equipment work operations. Work involves standing and walking most of the time but will also involve sitting and driving for extended periods sometimes over rough terrain.
