Job Summary: We are seeking a talented and versatile Journalist / Communications Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and managing a monthly newsletter focused on our clinic and the broader medical community, maintaining a blog with updates about our clinic, conducting staff interviews to produce engaging video content, and developing a website or blog dedicated to local events and reporting in Gillette. This role requires a proactive and creative individual with excellent writing, communication, and multimedia skills.
- Newsletter Creation: Research, write, and design a monthly newsletter covering topics related to our clinic and the medical community. Distribute the newsletter to our patients and the local town.
- Blog Management: Regularly update the clinic's blog with news, articles, and stories related to the clinic, medical advancements, and health tips.
- Staff Interviews: Conduct interviews with clinic staff to create informative and engaging video content for our blog and social media platforms.
- Website/Blog Development: Create and manage a website or blog dedicated to local events in Gillette. Report on community happenings, local news, and events.
- Content Creation: Develop and produce various types of content including articles and social media posts.
- Community Engagement: Foster relationships with local community members and organizations to gather news and events for reporting.
- Social Media Management: Assist in managing the clinic's social media accounts by posting updates and engaging with the community.
- Editorial Planning: Plan and execute a content calendar to ensure regular updates and consistent messaging.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the clinic's marketing and communications team to ensure alignment with overall branding and communication strategies.
- SEO Optimization: Ensure all digital content is optimized for search engines to increase visibility and reach.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in digital marketing, SEO, or multimedia journalism are a plus.
Experience
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in journalism, communications, or a related field.
- Proven experience in writing and editing for newsletters, blogs, or digital platforms.
- Experience with video production and editing is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with website development and content management systems (CMS)

- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong research and interviewing skills.
- Proficiency in multimedia production, including video and audio editing.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and digital marketing strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using CMS, social media platforms, and graphic design software.
- Creative mindset with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to stay up-to-date with the latest trends in journalism, digital media, and healthcare communications.
Physical, Mental Demands/Working Environment
Physical Requirements: Light work - exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time). Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours).Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and standing, bending and moving.
