Position Summary


This role is responsible for on-site installation of voice, data, fiber optic cable systems, security, CCTV & paging. Understands the proper procedures during an installation and must have the ability to communicate effectively with customers as it relates to job progress.


We currently have an opening for a Tech 2 and Tech 3, based on experience level.

Job Responsibilities

• Identifies and prepares pathways and supports for new cabling system installations
• Pulls copper, coaxial and fiber optic cable in backbone, horizontal and riser environments
• Terminates voice and data jacks and are familiar w/various brands: Leviton, Avaya, etc.
• Terminates fiber optic cable with a variety of connectors
• Terminates data cables on patch panels
• Punch down, or cross-connect voice cable on 66 or 110 blocks
• Terminates high count feeder cables for voice riser applications
• Build racks and mount rack equipment
• Read blue prints and identify cabling pathways, reads and understands construction project specifications
• Communicate with customers about project progress
• Test copper cable installations, has basic troubleshooting knowledge
• Tests fiber optic cable with power meter and light source (Fluke) and troubleshooting skills
• Complete timesheets, expense reports, mileage reports, and other job-related paperwork
• Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required

• Two or more years of experience in the voice/data industry is preferred

• Ability to travel, work varied hours and perform on call duties as needed

• Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable

• Ability to identify and distinguish colors

• Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs

Work is performed at the customer's job sites.
