Job Description

Position Summary

Provide direct operational administrative supervision of assigned clinics and departments. Partners with Associate Director of Patient Care by supervising staff, problem solving, and initiating changes and interventions to support patient care operations. Collaborates with physicians, management, and other clinical leaders to ensure safe, quality health care Ensures adequate and safe staffing for patient care clinics and departments.

Essential Duties
  1. Manages and develops an effective staff: providing effective communication, leadership, guidance and resources. Determines staff qualifications and competency: recruits, interviews, selects, hires, trains, orients, mentors, evaluates, coaches, counsels, disciplines, and rewards. Establishes and monitors staff safety and regulatory compliance.
  2. Demonstrates clinical competence in routine assessment and interventions as evidenced through the departmental competency program.
  3. Utilizes clinical opportunities to teach/guide staff in appropriate interventions in patient care.
  4. Implements care and services that recognize age-specific needs and issues for customers served.
  5. Ensures that employees meet defined performance standards and documents performance and any additional identified issues on assigned staff. Assists with problem-solving within clinics and other hospital departments. Monitors and provides administrative support to clinical staff. Acts as staff back-up covering for meetings.
  6. Collaborates with the nursing staff, medical director(s) of various units and multidisciplinary health care team to provide cost-effective, quality patient care delivery that is consistent with national standards and guidelines.
  7. Ensures adequate and safe staffing for clinics and patient care departments based upon defined criteria and interaction with unit based clinical nursing leaders and clinical coordinators.
  8. Utilizes clinical opportunities to teach/guide staff in appropriate interventions in patient care.
  9. Serves as resource person to staff for age appropriate care of patients, advanced nursing skills, and institutional and department policies.
  10. Integrates patient education philosophy and goals into patient care practice and monitors outcomes.
  11. Participates in quality improvement in patient care activities and by encouraging staff to develop and contributes to QI programs.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Education: High school diploma/GED and successful graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
  2. Work Experience: Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a Medical Assistant or Respiratory Therapist required. Experience at National Jewish Health preferred.
  3. Special Training, Certification or Licensure: CPR/BLS required.
Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000
