Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Nuclear Non-Proliferation Nuclear Engineer to work in our Nuclear Non-proliferation department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our IRC facility with every other Friday off. Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position. You will report to the manager over Nuclear Non-Proliferation Apply nuclear engineering principles and methods to develop, test, and analyze nuclear equipment and systems. Research new materials of special interest in radiation detection, nuclear fuels, and reactors. Perform studies related to the detection and control of radiation and radioactive contaminants. Study nuclear fuel cycle to define most economical uses of material and safest means of waste products disposal and challenges and approaches related to safeguards and verification of fuel cycle nonproliferation measures. You will be part of the INL Nuclear Nexus. Responsibilities Include:
- Work with designers, analysts, and customers to develop experimental requirements or to develop packaging and handling requirements for spent nuclear fuel.
- Select and widely apply advanced nuclear engineering design principles, theories, and concepts (which may include reactor fuel and packaging). Decompose project goals into defined and controlled design requirements.
- Use design methodologies, technologies, and processes which are best practice for the technical discipline to determine a design, and to validate that the design meets defined requirements.
- Document the design (controlled and approved models, drawings, specifications, and design descriptions) to establish conformance with design requirements and applicable codes and standards.
- Establish testing, inspection, and quality requirements to ensure technical features important to design are maintained.
- May perform integrated analyses to ensure that storage, transportation, and disposal requirements and facility safety bases are met.
- Perform analysis and design tasks supporting program interactions with (experiment) sponsors, operations, and engineering organizations to ensure that project related operations are performed in a manner that is consistent with the facility authorization.
- Develop physics-based mathematical models of mechanical, chemical, and electrical systems to support and verify design.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements: - BS in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related discipline and 14 years related experience; MS in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related discipline and 8 years related experience; PhD in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related discipline and 6 years related experience.
- Must have substantial experience working abroad and with foreign governments.
- Ideal candidates will have prior experience or familiarity with International Safeguards and international experience.
- Must have experience working with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Job Information: - The pay range for this position is $130,980 - $268,680. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

- TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
