Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Practitioner in Pulmonary Hypertension in Manhattan.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the provision, coordination, and assurance of comprehensive nursing care using nursing process and pertinent standards of care, the diagnosis of illness and physical conditions, and performance of therapeutic, corrective, and prescriptive measures of the designated inpatient or outpatient patient population within a collaborative practice agreement established with a specific physician on the staff of NYU Hospitals CenterJob Responsibilities:

Specific Pulmonary Hypertension-related Responsibilities
1. Clinical responsibilities include obtaining a thorough history and performing physical
examination, ordering appropriate diagnostic testing, including obtaining and organization of
prior work-up, administration of guideline directed Pulmonary Hypertension management,
interfacing with multiple providers to ensure optimal care, ensuring all consults are referred to
with adequate follow up, and communicating with specialty pharmacy/home care companies
and other dispensing pharmacies for uninterrupted drug delivery and administration. In
addition, the PH NP maintains contact with assigned caseload between visits, and manages
all outpatient particular needs. Initiates appropriate responses to issues and problems during
these contacts. Examples of outpatient tasks that are required include but are not limited to
responding to patients phone calls, placing medication and all required orders, follow up on
results and communication with the provider and the patients, management of specific PH
medication prescriptions and financial assistance, participation in the office visits including
performance of 6MWT, gathering of information for peer to peer authorization, oxygen
prescriptions, completion of disability, home health care, FMLA paperwork, education of
patients on low salt/high K diet, PH-CTEPH pathophysiology and PH symptom and
management, ensuring laboratory, radiologic, and diagnostic studies completed as needed.
2. Education responsibilities (patient and family, interfaces with staff, pharmacy, social work,
consultants) to include education about the disease process, management of all forms of
pulmonary hypertension and right ventricular failure, detailed description of the nebulizers,
subcutaneous and intravenous pumps. In addition, PH NP oversees the staff training program
in conjunction with nurses educators and Nursing Administration, participates in the
multidisciplinary nursing meetings
3. Research responsibilities: participates as sub-investigator in clinical trials performed within the
Pulmonary Hypertension Program, maintains appropriate certification, and is involved in all
phases of clinical trial performance as needed,
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Licensure: Current registration as Professional Nurse in New York and Registration as Nurse Practitioner in New York.
Education: Master's Degree in Nursing.
Certification required (as soon as feasible following graduation from NP graduate program) by ANCC or Board Certification from other specialty organization that certifies Nurse Practitioners in a clinical area of practice. BLS or ACLS, PALS, NRP Provider; (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), NALS per delineation of privileges.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least five years of clinical nursing practice in the care of the patient population served; ability to apply nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion, which addresses patient/family safety and satisfaction. Previous experience as a nurse practitioner is preferred. Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, creative problem solving and excellent critical thinking and leadership; previously demonstrated ability to facilitate group processes and work cohesively and collaboratively as member of the interdisciplinary team; Effective change agent. Physical stamina, manual dexterity, visual and aural acuity to perform responsibilities. Membership in professional specialty organizations desirable

The salary range for the role is $136,146.40 - $166,646.40 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
