Job Description

Overview:

Primo Water Corporation is seeking a full-time Organics Chemist for our Sacramento facility in California.

The primary function of Organics Chemist will be operating a brand new purchased QSight 220 Triple Quadrupole instrument for PFAS detection in bottled water products utilizing EPA 533 & EPA 537.1 methods.

Salary Range: $79k to $83k

Qualifications:
  • BS/MS in Chemistry or other physical sciences.
  • 3-5 years of similar experience in environmental laboratory with emphasis on organic
    extractions and analyses.
  • Experience with LC/MS & GC/MS is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of PFAS EPA methods and extractions necessary.
  • Familiar utilizing LIMS and other instrument operating software.
  • Knowledge of Mass Spectrometry concepts, procedures, and best practices within an
    environmental laboratory.
  • Familiar with analytical chemistry concepts, procedures, practices including EPA Drinking
    Water Regulations and Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA).
  • Knowledge of EPA quality assurance programs and NELAP compliance standards.
  • Maintain GLP practices in the laboratory.
  • Self-starter, motivated and ability to think critically.
  • Multi-tasking and provide help to the team with other GC/MS instrumentation techniques.

Responsibilities:
  • Extracts and analyzes bottled water products for PFAS analytes utilizing Triple Quadrupole
    LC/MS instrument.
  • Knowledge of PFAS methodology (EPA 533 & EPA 537.1), instrumentation and techniques.
  • Comply with TNI 2016 standards for EPA 533 & EPA 537.1 for PFAS analyses.
  • Serve as a backup for EPA 524.2 & EPA 525.2 method for VOCs and pesticide analyses.
  • Utilizes LIMS (Sample Master) software for login samples and data analyses.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Follow standard operating procedures, methods, processes, or techniques.
  • Responsible for trouble shooting and performing instrument maintenance.
  • Maintain data records in logbooks, check on supplies and maintain a healthy working
    environment.
  • Work under minimal supervision and report to the Director/Senior Organics Chemist.
  • Instrumentation training will be provided.
