Description: We are seeking a skilled and strategic Category Manager to join our team and optimize our procurement process for all direct materials used in our dental practices. In this crucial role, you will oversee the entire life cycle of direct materials, from crafting category strategies to managing relationships with our suppliers. You will leverage your expertise in sourcing, negotiation, and market analysis to drive cost savings, ensure the highest quality products are used in our practices, and minimize supply chain risks. You will also play a vital role in ensuring compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations. Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement category strategies for all direct materials, aligning with the overall goals of Specialty Dental Brands and the needs of our affiliated dental practices, while adhering to all applicable healthcare regulations.
  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify sourcing opportunities, cost reduction initiatives, and potential new suppliers of dental materials, with a focus on products that meet the highest quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the sourcing process for direct materials, including issuing RFPs, evaluating bids from suppliers, and negotiating contracts that are favorable for] Specialty Dental Brands and compliant with healthcare regulations.
  • Manage supplier relationships for direct materials, fostering collaboration and ensuring on-time delivery, adherence to quality standards, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Owns and develops strong strategic relationships with vendors and drive for continuous savings
  • Develop and implement supplier performance metrics that include quality, regulatory compliance, and cost effectiveness, and conduct regular reviews to assess effectiveness.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in direct materials procurement for the dental field, with a focus on evolving regulations.
  • Analyze data and reports to identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for improvement in the procurement process, while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including purchasing, operations, and most importantly, dental professionals. You will work closely with the clinical teams to understand their specific needs and preferences when developing supplier strategies and selecting materials.
  • Utilize strong stakeholder management skills to ensure alignment and buy-in from all parties involved, including clinical teams, leadership, and suppliers.
  • Develop project plans and timeline for new projects or programs
  • Negotiate and implement local, regional, and national agreements to support the savings and service goals of the procurement team.

Requirements Required Minimum Qualifications and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • An ability to see beyond the initial ask, to uncover the true business need or problem with the ability to develop a plan on how to resolve it.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in category management or a related procurement role.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful category strategies in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to analyze true cost of ownership beyond product price.
  • Strong understanding of sourcing methodologies, negotiation techniques, and contract management specifically within the dental supplies market.
  • Working knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations, including but not limited to HIPAA and FDA regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on spend data analysis.
  • Experience running multiple RFP's and/or savings projects simultaneously with the ability to prioritize to meet deadlines with having a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively, maintain composure and make decisions in stressful situations
  • Ability to organize workload, adapt quickly to change, and deliver under the pressure of deadlines
  • Desire and ability to take full ownership of projects and produce high quality work
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and procurement software (e.g., Coupa, Sage) is a plus.
  • Demonstrate ability to influence and partner with key internal and external stakeholders
