Job Description

Exceptional Care for Children is looking for an Evening/Weekend Receptionist who is responsible for answering the phones, providing a positive first impression to visitors, and periodically assisting with administrative and clerical duties. It is a two week rotating schedule:

Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday

Week 2: Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday

Mon-Fri: 4/4:30pm to 8pm; Sat & Sun: 8am to 4pm

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of this position may involve significant physical activities including standing, lifting (up to 50lbs unassisted), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting. All employees of nursing homes may be required to provide lifting and transfer assistance to residents. Lifting and/or transferring of some residents will require use of a lifting device and/or assistance of other staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for providing a positive first impression to visitors, including courteously greeting guests and seeing that they are attended to.
  1. Verifies visitor log to ensure responsible party approval for visitor/guest.
  2. Answers telephones. Takes and relays messages or pages personnel as appropriate. Assists with follow-up calls and communications including assisting with securing staffing and scheduling resident appointments as needed.
  3. Assists with maintaining overall orderliness and cleanliness of Nursing Stations and Charting Areas.
  4. Provides clerical and administrative support as needed.
  5. Maintains an inviting reception/lobby area appropriate for guests and visitors.
  6. Works to continuously improve the quality of care of each resident.
  7. Complies with laws and regulations applicable to position and act in accordance with Exceptional Care for Children's Corporate Compliance Program.
  8. Conduct self in a professional manner consistent with the core values and mission of Exceptional Care for Children.
  9. Follows facility dress and hygiene policies.
  10. Attend staff meetings as required by supervisor.
  11. Initiative in performing duties assigned and upholding the organizational mission.
  12. Serve on organizational committees and events as assigned.
  13. Participate in department quality improvement activities.
  14. Treats all residents, visitors, vendors and staff with courtesy.
  15. Attends and participates in in-service training, performance improvement committees and other meetings as scheduled and directed.
  16. Safety
    1. Knows and follows facility safety rules
    2. Demonstrates proper use of equipment. Reports equipment needs or repairs.
    3. Follows facility smoking policy
    4. Reports and documents any incidents or accidents of residents, staff, or visitor to the appropriate facility personnel.
    5. Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to Administrator.
    6. Performs duties, which may involve transportation of residents, as assigned in Facility Disaster Plan.
    7. Uses required protective equipment.
    8. Follows infection control standards, policies, and procedures.
  17. Resident Rights
    1. Knows Resident Rights. Helps residents exercise and/or protect their rights.
    2. Ensures that resident/responsible party concerns are addressed.
    3. Maintains confidentiality of resident information.
  18. HIPAA
    1. Follows and adheres to ECC's policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information.
    2. Uses and/or discloses only minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to complete assigned tasks. Highest Level of HIPAA authorization approved.
    3. Reports all suspected violation of company's HIPAA policies or procedures to the Compliance Officer.
  19. Other Duties
    1. Assists with special facility programs and events, when applicable.
    2. Performs all other duties as assigned and consistent with level of preparation and experience as directed by facility management. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Education or experience sufficient to meet position requirements.
  • Has effective communication skills and the ability to make oral presentations.
  • Ability to prioritize and work efficiently and effectively with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, vendors and other staff members.
  • Possess special interest in working with pediatric long term care residents and children with special needs.
  • Meets all health requirements as imposed by law.
