Job Description

The Pauley HeartCenter is seeking applicants for as needed research assistants to supportindustry/philanthropic/internally sponsored short term projects on an as neededbasis. Our faculty are approached to lead small projects from time to time thatrequire additional personnel beyond what our full-time research staff canaccommodate. This position would be to support these projects. Our expectationis that these types of projects may present themselves 3-4 times per year, maylast anywhere from 2-12 months and may need approximately 10-30 hours per week.

This posting will be remain open throughout the year and applicants will be contacted when a project arises that they are qualified for.

Hourly, short-term research assistantposition responsibilities may include:
-research data collection, entry and/or analysis; working directly withstudy participants during study visits recording information,administering surveys, supervising physical assessments alongside clinicalstudy personnel; assistance preparing and submitting research regulatorydocuments, study protocols, consent forms etc.; working with otherinstitutional research offices to facilitate study start-up activities;assistance preparing research abstracts and/or manuscripts ; assistingclinical research coordinators with assigned tasks related to the study;

Required skills: ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to prioritizework requirements to keep projects moving forward; ability to troubleshootissues with assistance of supervisor; ability to obtain any requiredcertifications in order to complete assignment (i.e. CITI, GCP etc.);competency working with standard office computing programs (i.e. MS Word,Excel, PPT); good communication skills; US citizen or permanentresidency or approved work Visa for the length of the assignment; highschool degree or equivalent.Demonstratedcommitment to fostering diversity and inclusion or a commitment to do so as a employee at VCU.

Preferred skills: previous experience with health science related research or academicpreparation in the area of health sciences or other appropriate academicarea as applicable to the specific project

Salary Range: $12-22 depending on project/exp
