The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County provides opportunities for people to connect with nature. We offer to the public 60 forest preserves, 166 miles of trails, 47 miles of rivers and streams, and 6 nature and cultural centers. We have 6 million visitors each year.

The District's mission is, "to acquire and hold lands containing forests, prairies, wetlands and associated plant communities or lands capable of being restored to such natural conditions for the purpose of protecting and preserving the flora, fauna and scenic beauty for the education, pleasure and recreation of its citizens.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of dining areas in the Greenway Tap restaurant and assisting service staff with the delivery of food to guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Clean and reset tables as guests leave the restaurant.
• Clean restaurant floor as needed after spills.
• Lift and carry bus tubs and trays containing soiled china, glassware, and utensils.
• Deliver food to guests and ensure order accuracy.
• Communicate any guest needs or issues to service staff or supervisors.
• Stock and check dining room and service areas for cleanliness at start of shift.
• Breakdown and clean dining room and service areas at end of shift.
• Foster a working environment that promotes safe work habits; Become familiar with and observe all applicable safety rules, policies, and work procedures; Follow all safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the District's safety and risk management program; Keep work area clean, orderly, and free of hazards; Immediately report all unsafe conditions and incidents.
• Maintain a supportive working environment and demonstrate a desire to exceed the expectations of internal and external customers.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

• 16 years of age or older at time of hire.
• 6 months of experience as a busser, food runner, or server in a high-volume restaurant environment preferred.
• Must have and maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification or obtain upon hire (training provided).
• Must have and maintain Illinois Food Handler Training and Certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of restaurant sanitation standards and food safety procedures.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time.
• Strong verbal communication skills.

Schedule: Position starts as early as April 5th. Variable schedule during the golf season based on business needs, may include weekdays and/or weekends where a majority of shifts will in the evening.

Pay: $8.40-10.00 plus tips.

Work Environment: Requires working indoors, including in walk-in coolers and freezers.
