Department Manager
Retail Operations
Purpose: The Department Manager oversees all aspects of their department, ensuring the team delivers exceptional customer service and maintains a clean, organized warehouse. This role involves managing purchasing, receiving, and stocking of products, maintaining appropriate inventory levels, and leading the Loading/Receiving team. The Department Manager motivates staff to perform at their best, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in staffing and productivity. They also work closely with the retail team to provide a seamless purchasing and loading experience for customers, serving as a role model for the team.
Responsibilities:
· Communication and Ordering: Consistently communicate with the Store Manager regarding needs and suggestions for products. Ensure timely placement of product orders.
· Pricing and Monitoring: Regularly monitor and set pricing of department products, considering the competitive environment, acceptable gross margin, and customer feedback.
· Customer Service Leadership: Provide leadership to all facets of customer service, including in-store and loading/receiving areas. Ensure performance consistency at the loading dock.
· Vendor Relations: Build and maintain quality relationships with vendors to establish long-term partnerships.
· Team Development: Work with the Loading/Receiving team Lead, mentoring them in effective communication, decision-making, and problem-solving. Delegate tasks and follow up to ensure proper completion, using these interactions for evaluation and coaching.
· Staff Management: Manage and direct staff with a focus on developing their self-management skills. Maintain a clean, organized store environment, including customer entryways.
Qualifications:
· Strong leadership and communication skills.
· Experience in retail operations, specifically agriculture.
· Ability to manage inventory and maintain a clean, organized warehouse.
