Job Summary
VIZ Media, the world leader in English-language versions of manga and anime (Japanese comics and animation), is looking for a Revenue Manager to lead a team supporting the revenue recognition and managing the monthly close activities for our publishing and animation revenue. The Revenue Manager will interact frequently with our sales, operations, legal, and finance teams. The ideal candidate must have strong operational and accounting expertise, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record of building and managing a team of high-performing individuals.
What you'll do:
* Manage the month-end close process for revenue
* Take ownership and accountability for accuracy, timeliness, effectiveness, and efficiency of all revenue recognition and balance sheet reconciliations
* Ensure correct coding of revenue entries and timely billing to customers
* Support monthly closing activities including, but not limited to, reviewing all revenue transactions, preparing accurate journal entries, and documenting revenue conclusions
* Work with customers and internal teams to ensure past due payments are closely followed and collected
* Implement and document processes, procedures, and policies as required
* Lead process improvement and system implementation projects
* Supervise and mentors a team of 1- 2 members
* Perform other ad-hoc projects and duties as required to support the Finance department
The ideal candidate has:
* A minimum of 5 years of revenue accounting experience
* A minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role
* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position
* Extensive US GAAP technical revenue accounting background
* Professional communication skills, capable of engaging with a culturally diverse range of clients, providers, and staff
* Strong analytical thinking with superior problem solving and decision-making skills
* Attention to detail and strong organization skills with prior experience in gathering, structuring, monitoring, and validating data to ensure data integrity with detailed documentation
* A habit of checking the accuracy of data and analysis several times over before submitting for review.
* Significant expertise in setting up automated processes to increase the effectiveness of the team and minimize room for error.
* Proven ability to multi-task with stellar time and project management skills; understands the importance of planning in advance to meet deadlines that include multiple review points and iterations
* Highest level of integrity and good judgment, with the ability to effectively deal with highly sensitive, confidential information
* Experience partnering with FP&A to deliver insightful information
* Strong Microsoft Excel skills and a strong understanding of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
Work Environment & Schedule
Location: The Revenue Manager position is open to candidates local to the San Francisco Bay Area. This is a hybrid position with 1-2 days of work onsite at our downtown San Francisco office expected weekly.
Schedule: This is a Regular Full-Time position with core hours of 9 am to 5 pm with some flexibility as needed.
Compensation: $125,000 - $135,000 annually, depending on experience, with additional variable compensation
