Program: SBCS's Supervised Visitation program offers free supervised visitation services to those families who have an open family court case through the South County Superior Court. SBCS's Supervised Visitation program offers a safe space for non-custodial parents to visit with their children.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Supervised Visitation Monitor under the supervision of the Program Supervisor and the Program Director is responsible for providing services to SBCS' culturally diverse families and/or individuals and the community. Services will be in keeping with the agency goals, objectives, mission, and style provided within a team framework. Associates are responsible for working with the team in developing team goals and objectives and in meeting those goals and objectives.
DUTIES: - Observes and records interactions during visits. Intervenes as necessary.
- Documents all contacts, including visits, calls and other methods of communication.
- Completes accurate and factual documentation of all visits.
- Completes all required case file documentation daily.
- Ensures the safety of all participants.
- Follows orders as set forth by the court orders.
- Provides safety planning, de-escalation and crisis intervention, as needed.
- Will be supervising visits, using our rigorous process and de-escalation techniques to ensure that all parties are safe.
- Communicates with all involved parties as requested.
- Supports team with the maintenance of the program's waitlist.
- Works collaboratively and communicates appropriately with other staff members.
- Utilizes the Agency's approved database.
- Maintains client case files in accordance with Agency standards.
- Adheres to agency client confidentiality, HIPAA, and mandated reporting policies.
- Attends and participates in agency required trainings, staff meetings, and activities.
- As other duties assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum B.A. or B.S. degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in child, youth, and family services field. Experience should preferably have been in a community based or neighborhood service organization.
- Flexibility in attending a required 3-day Supervised Visitation training within the first 30 days of being hired.
- Ability to be objective and flexible to adapt to changes in priorities.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of the family court system preferred.
- Experience in the areas of domestic violence and/or child abuse.
- Fluent Spanish speaker - with the ability to read and write in Spanish and English. required.
- Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
Conditions of Employment - Employment may be conditioned upon satisfactory completion of certain background clearances which may include a Department of Justice criminal background check requiring my fingerprints (Live Scan), TrustLine Registry, screening through the National Sex Offender Public Website, drug test, tuberculosis (TB) test, and such additional clearances as may be required under the program.
- Candidate is required to have reliable transportation; therefore, the candidate must successfully complete a motor history check. Candidate must also possess and maintain a current valid California driver's license and valid auto insurance policy.
Physical demands :
- Mentally and emotionally: Ability to work under deadlines, various projects and dealing with clients in crisis and difficult situations.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position during shift.
- Moves throughout the building.
- Moves, raises, or lowers (includes upward pulling) an object or equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Transports an object, from 20 to 50 lbs. across the facility, for various needs.
- Ability to exert force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force.
- Ability to exert force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force (includes jerking)
- Ascending or descending stairs and ladders when applicable. Body agility is emphasized.
- Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when ascending, descending, traversing.
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
- Handling: Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with objects or office machinery.
- Communicating: Expressing or exchanging ideas. Communicating is important for those activities in which workers must impart information to clients or to the public, and in those activities in which they must convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately, or quickly.
