Job Description

Position Duties and Responsibilities: Manage Museums Volunteer Program Develop, coordinate, and evaluate annual volunteer plan that supports all Museum functions. o Recruit new volunteers (with a special focus on diversifying demographics) and coordinate new volunteer orientation. Maintain volunteer and docent database in Volgistics, including monthly tracking and reporting of volunteer projects and hours contributed. Coordinate with Museum staff in all departments to develop appropriate volunteer job descriptions and to ensure effective volunteer training and communication. Match volunteers to projects based on skills and abilities. Oversee and lead volunteer and docent training programs, produce and distribute training videos and resources, and maintain volunteer website. Develop and coordinate additional enrichment activities for volunteers. o Manage Quarterly Volunteer Meetings and potlucks. Manage monthly meetings and administration of the Volunteer Leadership Committee. Develop strong interpersonal relationships with volunteers. Serve as a liaison between staff members and volunteers, helping each group to better support the needs of the other. o Assess the volunteer program on an annual basis. Assess new and established docents on an annual basis. Assist with volunteer travel associated with their professional development. Additional Education Department Responsibilities Responsible for evaluating and reporting on select temporary and permanent exhibitions, as well as select Education Department programs. Responsible for the creation, management, and assessment of in-gallery interpretive elements. Assist with teaching as needed. o Assist with installation of Educational Exhibitions as needed. Assist with planning and implementation of art making programs for adults. Other duties as assigned. Values: Integrity, Excellence, Collaboration, Transparency, Accountability, Financial Responsibility Qualifications: A Bachelors Degree or higher is required in business administration, program management, public administration, museum studies, education or social sciences. At least 2 years demonstrated experience working with/managing volunteers required. Superior interpersonal, organizational, problem solving, and leadership skills as well as ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Applicants must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Required proficiency with Microsoft Windows/Office products or similar operating system. Spanish language skills are a plus. Benefits: Starting pay will be $55,000 paid at $26.62 per hour.
