Job Description
Conduct laboratory research with human samples collected for epidemiological and clinical projects. Record accurate and complete data. Assist with bio sample collection, allocation and shipment.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
To assist in the collection and process biospecimen from study participants and to keep detailed records on all patient samples. To isolate DNA samples and keep inventory of all blood, plasma, tissue and DNA samples.
To perform cell culture, treatment, and biomarker assays, i.e. micronuclei, chromosome break and DNA adduct measurement.
To place purchase orders; to manage laboratory safety; and to maintain laboratory inventory and instrument; to train new employee about lab rules and proper use of instrument.
To supervise new employees or visitors on following basic laboratory techniques and regulations.
To help in literature review and manuscript preparation.
Have good interpersonal skills to interact with participants in a professional manner:
* Demonstrate excellent customer service
* Apply elements of building rapport with participants, thus, ensuring a smooth and efficient participant experience
* Make sure that follow-ups are completed according to established procedures
* Plan and execute strategies and exercising independent judgment to locate difficult to find participants using different approaches
* Responding to sensitive participant inquiries using approved resource documents, computer information databases and the Internet
* Document work for completeness, adherence to policy/procedures, and use of reference materials
* Respond to telephone and email requests using approved community resource documents, computer information databases and the Internet
EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Two years of related experience. With preferred degree, no experience required.
